Cool Mind Experiment
I’m reading The Magic of Believing by Claude M. Bristol.
It is all about the power of your thoughts — which you KNOW I agree are where our true power is.
I came across a “power of mind” experiment or “mind game” that sounded so cool and easy that I HAD TO try it out.
You balance a piece of paper on a needle and “direct” it to spin in the direction you choose. Then, switch.
The results were spectacular when I did it.
Here’s how:
- Make a 3 x 3 inch square of light-weight paper.
- Fold it corner to corner. Unfold. Then, fold it opposite corner to corner. Unfold again. Now the paper makes a little, flat pyramid shape.
- Get a fine needle and figure out a way to secure it upright. (I put my in the top of a sunscreen bottle.)
- Balance the folded paper on the needle with the needle in the top of the pyramid.
- Place your hands above the pyramid in such a way that your hands are close to the paper but leaving just enough room for it to spin freely.
- Start with the pyramid still.
- Imagine (or direct) it to spin clockwise. Keep your focus on that idea until it does.
- Imagine (or direct) it to spin counterclockwise.
Let me know how it goes for you.
At first, I had to stop it myself between directions. Then, with practice, I could have it stop and go the other way.
Be careful not to have the paper in a draft or to move your hands while you are doing this.
NOW: imagine if you can do THIS with your thoughts… what else is possible?
Love and Success,
Katherine

Different Strategies for Different Times
The stories that are being shared during this season of presidential politics brought back to my mind a story my grandfather told many times.
It was during the Great Depression.
My grandfather was in college, studying engineering.
He had to leave school for a while to get a job to help support his family, but getting a job was not certain during that time.
He was determined to find a “good job,” but there were not many jobs – good or otherwise – to be found.
One morning, he saw an advertisement for a job at Fisher Body baling scrap metal. He decided to go for it.
As he was getting ready to go, his mother gave him advice: “tell them you are a college boy.”
Before the Depression, that would have meant something to prospective employers, but these were different times, and his father had a different perspective.
He pulled my grandfather aside and said: “look as big and strong and stupid as you can.” My grandfather decided to take his advice. So, he layered lots of sweaters under his coat to look as big and strong as he could, and off he went.
When he arrived, he found a line of eager applicants wrapping around the block.
At this point when he would tell the story, my grandfather would stand up and point to the molding around the floor, and he would demonstrate how he stood with his heels resting on the top of the molding, with his arms out to his side the way a muscle-bound man stands, and he’d pull a hat a little down over his face and put a toothpick in his mouth to demonstrate how he stood to stand out from the crowd.
He looked as big and strong and stupid as was possible for him.
So many people would apply for ONE job at that time, that you really had to stand out from the crowd, you couldn’t rely the usual job-finding strategies.
When the plant manager came out, he scanned down the LONG line of people and didn’t speak to a soul but pointed at a few, and said, “You and you and you – come with me.” And, that was it.
My grandfather got that much-needed job that way. He would tell of the grueling physical labor and how he used his engineering and physics mind to leverage his strength to get the job done.
Baling scrap metal. Pretty tough work.
The point of sharing this story is that times change, and the effective way to get a job or attract a client changes as well.
What worked a couple years ago so well for so many does not necessarily work now.
To be successful, you have to adapt to find the best way to be what people really want and need.
Though my grandfather’s college smarts helped him to be a great employee, what the employer wanted was a strapping strong man.
What does that mean today?
It means, the world is changing and evolving at an EXTREMELY rapid pace these days.
What worked a couple years ago CANNOT work today.
It is effectively a different world now.
What have you done lately to continue to evolve and adapt?
Are you following old “roadmaps to success” but are not finding the success you desire?
Law of Attraction Tip:
Follow the lead of my grandfather and have faith and confidence that YOU will get what you want, even when the odds may “seem” to be stacked against you. See yourself getting what you want, and follow inspired action to get there. (My grandfather didn’t sit at home dreaming about getting a job and tweaking his resume. He got out there where the job was and took action on the inspired suggestion of his father to land the job that got his family through the Depression and gave him great insight into the mind and concerns of the on-the-floor labor force which served him very well in his later career as a railroad executive and labor contract negotiator – but that’s a story for another time..)

Do You Want It Enough??
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about “wanting it enough.”
I’ve set some big goals for myself, and part of getting there is to be sure I want it enough.
Recently, I came across a small example of how “wanting it enough” makes all the difference.
I was working on the beach and took a break to take a dip in the water.
It was nice and warm under my beach umbrella, and the cool water was a shock. I almost didn’t go past my ankles and almost turned around and came back out. Then I realized what a perfect example of “wanting it enough” this was. If I did want it, I could just go for it.
The part of me already in the water felt good, but that line between being in the water and still being all warm from sitting in the sun was tricky.
When I focused on my feet and legs and ankles that were already in the water rather than the “line of shock,” it became easier.
I thought about my little reason to go into the water: to be refreshed, to have the experience of going in the water today.
If my son were in trouble in the water, I would not have noticed the water temperature as I plunged in (that would definitely have been “wanting it enough”), that reason TO go in the water would have outweighed just about any reason I can fathom.
If I knew that plunging in icy water would get me a dime, I probably would pass: not compelling enough.
If there were a pile of gold coins or a treasured heirloom down there, I probably would not let the water temperature stop me. (I might THINK about it, but I wouldn’t let it stop me.)
Different goals, desires, etc. motivate us differently.
If you are having trouble meeting a goal, think about your “WHY” – why you are going after the goal and it is truly compelling enough to get you past the discomfort of change (that “line of shock”).
Think about goals you’ve had that you haven’t met and compare them with the goals you HAVE met. Think about what motivated you in each.
P.S. The day I wrote about was a calm-sea day. The next day I was at the beach and the waves were big and beautiful and enticing. I went in just a bit and then WHOOSH, a big wave came. I had no choice but get wet THEN. I could dive through, try to ride it, or get tumbled, but “taking it slowly” was NOT an option – nor was staying dry. AND, I didn’t even notice the temperature, I was so thrilled by the moment.
I realized how this really furthers the metaphor of wanting it enough – because when you take baby steps toward your goal, you feel each little bit of change, but when you plunge into the big waves sometimes you are swimming before you notice.
Law of Attraction Tip:
Focus on what you want and how to get it, make it juicy and exciting and enticing and when possible “take the plunge” and just go for it in a way that does not allow you to think and turn back.
Love and Success,
Katherine

Sad Irony
I recently had a catch-up call with a colleague.
In my new openness to having business relationships even with those I may consider my “inner circle,” I kept my mind open to the possibility of our working together even though I didn’t have anything in particular in mind.
On the phone call, she revealed deep frustrations with her business and her finances — major financial problems, in fact.
Before she revealed that information to me, I had been thinking about telling her about a program I had that seemed right for her, but I had about decided not to mention anything about it.
I also learned that she had just completed hosting a program that sounded AWESOME. It was meant to be a group program, but she only got one person, and she ended up spending more on the program than the one client paid to participate. I was bummed that I hadn’t heard about her program and wished that she had reached out to me to tell me about it, but she didn’t; so, I didn’t even have the chance to consider going.
I wondered about how many others there might have been who would have been willing to PAY for her program — IF we had just known about it.
As our conversation continued, I told her about a technique I was using to get new paying clients whenever I want them.
She asked how she could learn the system because her business had stalled out, and she really needs new clients.
Then, she added, “let me be clear, I am asking you how I can PAY you for this information.”
I have been thinking about creating a program or a product based on this information, but I have not done so yet; so, I estimated how much time it would take to explain it to her and work out the kinks for her and made a proposal. **
She was VERY enthusiastic about the program and the material I would share and how we had crafted the delivery, and we even realized that we could get going on it right away so that she could have new clients in a matter of days.
But, there was a bit of a gulp around the price. I value my time, and I know the value of what I offer – so did she. She realized she would make the money back quickly, but she needed to pass the investment by her husband because they were really making a coordinated effort to get out of their financial difficulty.
We agreed to speak the next day.
So, she had a need: to get more paying clients.
I had a solution: a great system.
And, she had keen interest.
Great, right? Win-win-win all the way around.
Well, here’s where the sad part is: overnight her Subconscious kicked in (your subconscious wants to keep you exactly where you are right now – even if you consciously want a shift), and suddenly it all seemed like a bad idea to her, a VERY bad idea. In fact, she lashed out at me for trying to sell to her when in fact she had initiated the sales conversation by ASKING to buy from me.
Here’s the sad/important/ironic part of the story:
She was lashing out at me for doing the very thing that could FREE HER from her financial trap.
She was lashing out at the opportunity for her to learn how to turn her financial ship around.
And, she missed the opportunity.
So, here’s the lesson we can each learn from this situation: if you ever feel like lashing out, stop and think really what you are lashing out against. Really ask what the TRUTH is in the situation.
If she had simply decided with her conscious, rational mind that she was CHOOSING not to do my program – for whatever reason – then, that would not have been emotionally charged.
The charge, the anger is the clue that it is related to the shenanigans of the Subconscious mind trying to keep her right where she is and not shift into the better financial place that her conscious mind wants.
When you feel charged, it is a clue that there is actually a gift for you in the situation.
Give yourself the opportunity to cool down and take another look.
LOA Tip: BOTH your Conscious mind AND your Subconscious mind are creating your experience. Learn how to differentiate about which one is more “in control” in any given situation and CHOOSE which you want to go along with. Learn more on this recent blog.
Love and Success to you,
Katherine.

Who Do YOU Have to Be to Attract the Life You Want?
Lately, I have been asking myself “What do Billionaires do differently?” and “How would my life be different if I were a Billionaire – where would I live, what would I wear, eat, etc.?”
Recently, I was talking to my mentor and told him of a direction I’d like to head in my life, and he asked, “Who would you have to BE to experience that?”
I’ve heard that question many times before, and still I took it to a deeper place this time, and I immediately came up with a very specific, clear answer to his question (which I’ll share with you soon) that I took back to my earlier questions and modified them.
What would SHE do differently? How would she live HER life? Since then, I’ve informed EVERY decision I’ve made by what SHE would do as I have begun to embody that energy more and more.
It has been fascinating to see the subtle differences between what a Billionaire would do and what SHE would do.
Who would YOU have to be to experience what you want to experience in your life (wild business success, health, love, it does not matter)?
Use that to examine your life and your choices, start living it NOW!
LOA Tip: Start living the life you want to live NOW – even if you can only start in your imagination. You can have it NOW.
Buying My First House, a Story of the Support of the Universe
After I graduated from Georgetown University, I stayed on in that beautiful part of Washington in a nice one-bedroom apartment. Eventually, I decided I wanted to buy a house, and I found just the one I wanted. It was perfect for me, a little two-bedroom with a walled garden, but it was a stretch for me financially at the time.
The first thing that happened was that my real estate agent was too busy to come with me to look at the house and basically took himself out of the process. It was for sale by owner; so, the owner and I negotiated directly.
I don’t remember the mortgage process because it was so quick and easy. I got approval for the amount I needed.
But THEN, the lender got back to us saying that we had to put a new roof on the house because we had no documentation saying how old it was. The owner and I were very nervous because we had no idea how much that would cost. It could kill the deal.
I agreed to get a couple roofers to come by to give estimates. So, I went to the yellow pages. There were PAGES of roofers, PAGES of them. I chose one “large ad” roofer and one who had just his name and phone number. I set up the appointment with the “large ad” guys and then called the other one (a random pick). He agreed to come, we set a time, and when I gave him the address, he said, “wait a minute, I put the roof on that house just a couple years ago… you just need a guarantee for the bank that the roof is going to last. I am happy to send a letter telling them the date that I put the roof on and that I guarantee my work – no charge.”
Wow. What are the odds? Out of ALL the roofers, I called him, he remembered, AND he made such a generous and purchase-enabling offer!
Then, I went to my landlord. He had been doing some construction on the apartment building that had caused problems for me. I had been withholding rent and had talked to an attorney about suing him. Turns out I had a really good case, and the attorney was VERY eager to take the case. I, however, don’t like to get my energy tied up in that kind of thing; so, I decided not to sue. I just wanted a lovely living condition.
What I did was this: I approached my landlord and told him I was planning to move. I asked him to waive those months of rent that I had not paid, and I used all the legal terms I could remember from my conversations with the attorney. My landlord was an attorney, too. His face went pale because he understood that I knew I could sue him. He said he’d think about it and get back to me the next day.
His counter-proposal was even BETTER than what I had asked for. He offered to waive the back rent AND to pay my moving expenses (which were about $5K). Deal!
There were a few things that needed fixing on my little house, about $5K worth. I had been hearing about a first-time home buyers tax rebate of that amount but it had not been enacted by the time we closed.
BUT THEN, the president signed it into law RETROACTIVE to the DAY I purchased my home; so, I got the money and was able to do the work. J
AND, all of this happened in a wildly short amount of time. I think from the time I first saw the house until the day I moved in was 13 days.
There were other pieces to this puzzle that the Universe lined up. So many moving parts, and they all came together perfectly.
Law of Attraction Tip:
Keep your eyes on the prize and trust that the Universe will support you. The Universe is standing by, ready to support you in ways that you cannot even imagine – roofers, landlords, and even U.S. Presidents can line up to assist the Universe in assisting YOU.
With love,
Katherine

What is real?
I’ve come to really believe we each create our own reality.
You get to define for yourself what is real.
So, is this “bad economy” real?
It is only real if you decide it is real.
I was lucky enough to get an understanding of this early on from my grandparents.
I remember learning about The Great Depression in school. We were encouraged to ask family members who had lived through it about it.
So, I approached one set of grandparents and got the usual story… “oh yeah, we lost everything… had to sell diamonds to buy bread… had to quit college to get a job… managed to get a scarce job bailing scrap metal at a car factory…” That fit with what we had studied in school.
Then, I approached my other grandmother and asked her. Her response shocked me. “Wasn’t that when good, cheap help was easy to find?” THAT was her biggest memory of that era. WOW!
I dug further. Turns out, her family actually MADE a lot of money during the depression buying up bargain properties.
It was the same moment but different realities.
I’ve spent a lot of my life trying to unravel how something could be experienced SOOO differently by two people at the same time.
Here’s what I’ve come to believe:
It all boils down to YOU.
You get to decide.
It is all about how you look at things.
Do you see an opportunity?
Do you see trouble?
What you see is what you get!
So, what do you see when you look around you?
Law of Attraction tip: Look at the world as a place ripe with opportunities, and you will see them – EVERYWHERE!
With love,
Katherine

A Fishing Story
You’re familiar with the saying “if you give a man a fish, he eats for a day; if you teach him to fish, he’ll never be hungry again.”
Well, I’m not so sure.
First, let’s add in some bonuses.
Let’s give this hungry person a boat, and let’s show him where the fish are. I mean point right through the water and say, “there they are, go for it!”
Easy peasy, right?
In theory, that man is feasting on fish tonight.
What if he is afraid of the water or afraid of fish or afraid of failure or thinks it might be wrong to fish or afraid of being rejected by the fish or is ill or too tired — blocked in some way from actually DOING what you’ve taught, he still won’t have any fish!
He’ll still be hungry. He could sit on the boat all day, looking at the fish through the water thinking how yummy they’d be in his frying pan, but that doesn’t do any good.
He has to do something different. He has to FISH.
Theoretical knowledge can only take you so far.
Then, you’ve got to put it into practice. You’ve got to take that intellectual knowledge (of HOW TO fish) and turn it into real Knowledge (I CAN FISH because I just caught one).
Unless you have a fish, you don’t know HOW to fish.
That would-be fisherman in his boat hungrily looking at the fish but not doing what it takes to get them – no matter how easy it has been made by his teachers and benefactors, he is blocked by some fears, some story, something internal.
Remove the blocks, and he could be a fishing magnate! He has all the “tools.”
Are you like that hungry fisherman?
Can you see your fish and taste them in your pan and yet somehow it is all in your imagination and not yet quite in your reality?
You may have some specific blocks I call “A.B.”s holding you back.
Click here to learn more and to get immediate access to a free audio class I taught to help you understand if you have A.B.s – and if you do, how to get rid of them.
Law of Attraction Tip:
If you want fish, fish! Do it!

What are you willing to believe??
What are you willing to believe??
You believe what you believe, right?
Nope. Belief is a choice, a habit of thought.
So, what do you choose to think?
Thoughts create your reality.
What are you willing to think again and again until it becomes so real to you that it is a belief?
Beliefs are powerful. Once set, you will start to see “evidence” supporting your beliefs everywhere.
Beliefs are like thoughts on steroids, turbo-charged, exponentially more powerful.
What do you want to believe?
So, do you want to believe in lack??
Or, do you want to believe in abundance?
Your choice.
If you want to know what you believe, look at your life, your life reflects back to you your beliefs — 100%. Your life gives you a snapshot of the beliefs you are carrying around right now.
Like what you see? GREAT!
Would you rather live your life differently? Then, you need to shift your beliefs.
What are you willing to believe?
Law of Attraction Tip: Be deliberate about what you think. Monitor your thoughts and ask yourself, “Is this the world I want to live in?” ”Is this what I want to create?” Your thoughts are powerful.
Thoughts Create!♥

All Is Well — Always
I am doing a program with one of our fantabulous Expert Faculty members, David Neagle.
As a part of the program, he suggests we read and meditate upon the “release prayer” from A Course in Miracles at least three times each day.
And, since I trust his wisdom, and it feels good to me, I’ve been doing it – well, sort of.
Here’s the prayer as he gave it to us:
I must have decided wrongly, because I am not at peace.
I made the decision myself, but I can also decide otherwise.
I want to decide otherwise, because I want to be at peace.
I do not feel guilty, because the Holy Spirit will undo all the
consequences of my wrong decision if I will let Him.
I choose to let Him, by allowing Him to decide for God for me.
He walked us through the prayer line by line. It is great for reclaiming full responsibility. He also says it is the best tool he knows for shifting into more self-worth (perhaps by reconnecting with you power).
Anyway, some of it felt a little off to me; so, I shifted it a bit, and this is what I’ve been working from:
I must have decided from my woundedness because I am not at peace.
I made the decision myself, and I can also decide otherwise.
I want to decide otherwise because I want to be at peace.
I do not feel regret because Source will undo all the consequences of my wounded decision/s if I will let Source.
I choose to let Source by allowing my Inner Being to decide for Source for me.
Well, this morning as I was doing my version of the prayer, I felt like I wanted to be more in the space of my Power and not in the space of “not at peace.” So, I came up with this:
All Is Well. Always.
I am the creator of my own experience.
I can be, do, and have any- and every-thing I desire.
When I feel great, I am aligned with Who I am.
When I follow my passions, I am in my power.
When I am out-of-whack, I am resisting something.
No worries!
When I Let Go, I can re-align with Myself.
All is well. Always.
Even action borne from misalignment leads to expansion.
It is All Good.
When I listen to my Inner Being, My Heart Sings.
♥
I’d love your thoughts.
Law of Attraction tip: pick one of the above and try saying it out loud. If it feels good, try doing that a few times a day and notice if you start to shift how you feel about your life. You should start feeling more powerful.
With love,
Katherine
